Canadian composer Kevin Lau?s Between the Earth and Forever follows, a reflective and expansive piece that draws listeners into its meditative landscapes and delicate harmonies. The program concludes with Shostakovich?s Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, a masterwork of tension and resilience, whose dramatic contrasts and haunting motifs reflect the composer?s struggles under Soviet censorship while remaining a testament to human endurance and expressive power.
